Aliander, Amsterdam
Coare has maintained a longstanding collaboration with Alliander. In just ten weeks, our construction team successfully delivered a new core facility for the national grid operator on Basisweg in Amsterdam. Thanks to a highly coordinated construction process and strong collaboration with the client, the project was completed efficiently and on schedule.
Working in close collaboration with various departments within Alliander, Coare Architecture and Coare Realization designed a workspace where light, openness, and transparency take centre stage. Enhancing employees health and boosting productivity were key priorities throughout the process. The result is a calm, comfortable, and thoughtfully detailed space, using natural and sustainable materials such as CO₂-absorbing paint and circular flooring solutions and 90% of the existing furniture was reused.
To meet the different needs of employees, various types of workspaces were created, ranging from open collaborative areas to quiet, focused zones. The interior palette draws inspiration from nature, contributing to a warm and inviting atmosphere. In addition, video conferencing pods and modular meeting cubes have been designed to be easily relocated, allowing the workspace to adapt over time to the evolving needs of its users. This kind of flexibility is, in our view, a vital form of sustainability—ensuring the workplace remains both functional and future-proof
