Ride Dott, HQ Amsterdam
Ride Dott are a circular and sustainable transport company, providing cities with a shared electric scooter system with the goal of reducing car dependency throughout Europe. They approached us to design and build their new Headquarters in Amsterdam
Their brief was to design sustainable and flexible office space, with a combination of team spaces, individual work spaces, meeting rooms and technical workshops in addition to social and communal spaces.
Spatialness/Social
The existing building, a former warehouse in the western docks of Amsterdam, provided a blank canvas, with vast open spaces and large windows overlooking the IJ.
Organised around a central street, the proposal places clusters of meeting rooms throughout the building in order to subdivide the vast open warehouse in to smaller areas for different teams. This maintains a sense of spaciousness and provides sight-lines to the water from all spaces. This also provides a social benefit due to more opportunities to interact with colleagues and the design acts as a catalyst for collaboration.
Materiality/ Long-term SolutionsThe clusters are modular and made from a warm palette of timber, felt and glass to contrast the stark aesthetic of the white and grey industrial context.
