The NS headquarters in Utrecht was struggling with an outdated layout: many closed offices and little space for interaction or collaboration. The ambition was clear — more connection between departments, more flexible use of spaces, and a work environment that reflects NS’s modern work culture.

Together with NS, we transformed the traditional office floors into an open and transparent work environment. We created flexible workstations, informal meeting areas, and improved sightlines, allowing interaction and collaboration to happen naturally — all without disrupting daily operations.

In total, we transformed the 23,000 m² headquarters into a modern and transparent workplace. The renovation was carried out in 17 phases, each with a strict turnaround of just three weeks. Through smart logistics and careful coordination, NS remained fully operational while the office was step by step reshaped into a sustainable, future-proof work environment.
